In main event action, four-time world champion, Brian “The Hawaiian Punch” Viloria (36-4, 21KO) annihilated Omar Soto (23-12-2, 7KO), dropping him three times in the first round, the final time with a left hook. Time of the stoppage was 2:02 in round one and with the victory, Viloria wins the WBC fECARBbOX Flyweight title and puts himself back in title contention for a possible fifth world title. This was a rematch of their hotly contested 2010 matchup that Viloria won by split decision. It took Viloria just two minutes to erase the five years of any doubt of their previous fight.

In an eight round featherweight slugfest, Newly signed Top Rank featherweight Guy Robb (16-1, 7KO) survived the early bull rush of tough, but limited, Edwin Solis (6-4-3, 4KO) to hammer out a unanimous decision victory. All three judges were in consensus with a 79-73 score in favor of Robb. Solis endured a lot of late punishment but showed a lot of heart in defeat. There were no knockdowns in the bout.

In opening bout action from the Florentine Gardens in Hollywood, CA, Brazilian lightweight, William Silva (22-0, 13KO) impressively knocked out Hungarian fighter, Adam Mate (15-5, 8KO) at 2:18 of the fifth round with a perfectly placed right cross to the liver. It was the first fight in the USA for both fighters and the debut fight for Silva under the Top Rank banner. Silva is huge for a lightweight and could make some waves in the division.
In an 8 round slugfest, Abner Lopez (23-4, 19KO) won a unanimous decision victory over Daniel Calzada (11-15-2, 2KO). It took a while for Lopez to exert his dominance and he got hit too much early but his power was the deciding factor and by the last couple rounds he hurt Calzada often but couldn’t put him down or out. Judges scored the bout 60-54, 59-55 and 59-55, all in favor of Lopez.

Debuting middleweight, Brian Flores (1-0, 1KO) made quick work of fellow debuting fighter, Thomas Noel (0-1) with a first round stoppage. Flores, fighting out of the Wild Card Gym in Hollywood, clearly had the better skillset and his straight punches down the pipe versus the wide looping punches of Noel was the difference. Noel was down twice and at 2:22 of the first round, the referee waved off the fight to give Flores the victory.

In a six round welterweight bout, Arnold Barboza (8-0, 2KO) won a workmanlike unanimous decision victory over limited Lionel Jimenez (2-5, 2KO). There were no knockdowns in the bout and all three judges saw the bout 60-54 in favor of Barboza.

Walkout action featured a scheduled six round light heavyweight matchup but Israel Duffus (9-3, 8KO) acted like he had somewhere to be and gave no respect to the previously undefeated Ryan Bourland (7-1, 3KO) brutally knocking him out with an overhand right at just 1:51 of the first round. Bourland had to be attended to by medics and was placed on his stool for a couple minutes but left on his own power. The perfectly sculpted Duffus was the apparent stronger fighter from the opening bell while Bourland’s undefeated record was built upon opponents with a combined record of 10-23 including three debuting fighters.

Promoters for Hollywood Fight Night were Top Rank Boxing in assiociation with Bash Boxing and Art of Boxing Promotions.
