Super featherweight Casey “The Wizard” Ramos (24-1, 6KOs) of Austin, Texas and two-time world title challenger Miguel Beltran, Jr. (31-6, 21KOs) of Mexico went the distance Friday night at the Burbank Marriott Convention and Event Center in Burbank, California in the UniMas Solo Boxeo main event. Beltran staggered Ramos with a left hook in round two but Ramos responded with a big left hook of his own. Ramos boxed smart as he landed big shots on Beltran. In round four, Beltran connected Ramos numerous times with the right hand. The fifth round saw Ramos suffer a cut on his right eye from a punch by Beltran.
Halfway through in the sixth Ramos and Beltran boxed more cautiously as they landed solid punches. However in the seventh Ramos and Beltran exchanged as Ramos landed the thudding right hand throughout the round. Ramos pressed in the eighth landing the right as Beltran boxed and countered. The final two rounds, it was Beltran going forward as Ramos held his own boxing from outside. Both finished the fight toe to toe in the center of the ring.
In the end, the judges scored the fight 97-93, 96-94, and 96-94 as Casey Ramos wins a unanimous decision.
Detroit super featherweight Erick De Leon (16-0, 10KOs) by way of Mexico stopped veteran Daulis Prescott (31-6, 24 KOs) of Columbia in a scheduled eight round co-feature bout. A left to the body followed by a right from De Leon sent Prescott to the canvas in the second round. Continuing to attack in round three De Leon hit Prescott with a low blow and he got some time to recover. Shortly after, the Colombian appeared to have injured his arm as he could not continue. Jack Reiss stopped the fight at 59 seconds of the third.
Opening up the Solo Boxeo telecast South El Monte super lightweight Arnold Barboza Jr. (15-0, 5KOs) scored a fifth round knockout over Markus Morris (10-2, 6KOs) of Minnesota. Barboza was cut above the left eye as blood trickled on the side of his face as the taller Morris kept his distance. However in round four Barboza knockdown Morris as he got up. Later in the round, Brbiza cornered Morris knocking him down for a second time. Morris was cornered once again in round five as Barboza went in for the finish knocking him down for the third time as referee Jack Reiss waived it at 46 seconds of the fifth.
In a walkout bout, Welterweight Artemio Reyes (24-2, 19 KOs) of Riverside, California won a unanimous decision over Hector Munoz (25-19-1, 17 KOs) of Mexico in a six rounder. Reyes outworked Munoz as he fought him on the inside for six rounds. Judges scored the bout 60-54, 59-55, and 59-55.
Super bantamweight Robert Ochoa (2-0, 1KO) of Rialto, California and Guadalupe Arroyo (2-4) went the distance in a four round bout. Ochoa and Arroyo traded away as Ochoa went to the body. Pressuring throughout the fight Ochoa attacked as Arroyo held his own standing and trading as both finished strong. Judges scored the bout 40-36, 40-36, and 39-37.
Jessy Martinez (6-0, 4 KO ), of Inglewood, California made quick work of Somner Martin (6-5, 4 KOs) in a scheduled six round welterweight bout. A short right hand by Martinez dropped Martin as he got up staggered but referee Jack Reiss waived the bout at 2:20 of the first round.
Super lightweight Askkat Ualikhanov (1-1) of Oxnard stopped Erick Fowler (0-2) of Houston, Texas in two rounds. Ualikhanov teed off on Fowler as referee Jack Reid’s stopped the fight at 1:49 of the second round.
In the opening bout from the Burbank Marriott Events Center in Burbank, California, super featherweight Dominic Serna (1-0, 1 KO) of Indio, California scored a third round knockout in his pro debut over Alex Acuna (1-1). A left hook to the body by Serna did it as Acuna was done. Time of the stoppage was 1:54.
